We are at sea.

Today we left London and boarded our Ship in South Hampton.  Our Ship is very nice. This is my first cruise, so I am taking a ton of photos.  Here we are right before we boarded the ship.

We had a nice lunch in the dinning room.  I had Fettuccini Alfredo, Trout Almandine and chocolate soufflé and then we settled into our cabin.  After lunch Kerry took a nap while I explored the ship. It is huge. I rode an elevator with a steward trying to help a man find his room... he couldn't remember the deck he was on or if he was in room 341 or 431. Fortunately we are in room M111 so it is easy to remember.  During my exploration I went to the porter's desk and signed up for internet service on the ship so that I can blog (and check our email) from the ship at night and not just when we are in port.

We had a 5 pm mandatory safety "muster" to learn about the life jackets etc.  Once that was done we headed up to the Lido deck for the cast-off party. The Lido deck is beautiful they even have a glass bottom walkway...Cool!

We each grabbed a couple of fancy drinks at the bar, and a slice of pepperoni pizza

before settling in at a table with a great view.

Once the sun set and the alcohol kicked in we headed inside to the buffet for actual food followed by a movie under the stars.  They were showing Tomb Raider, so we grabbed a couple of lounge chairs to watch the show.  It was a bit chilly and threatening to rain, but they have warm blankets, so it was all good.

After the movie was over I returned to the room to find that the steward had turned down my bed and dropped off a schedule for tomorrow. There was even a little chocolate heart on my pillow. Nice!

Of course, It wasn’t until after I was in my pajamas that I saw the coupon on the back of the schedule for a launch day watch sale… 30% off.  So of course, I put a pair of jeans and a hoodie on (over my pjs) and headed for the sale.  Not having a watch has been driving me nuts all week so I bought a watch. It wasn't too pricey and it can be my souvenir from the cruise.

Well I am off to bed.  Tomorrow we land at St. Peter Port, Guernsey.

  1. Awww...I'm jealous. Looks like your cruise will be wonderful. I like your watch, very classy looking. That glass bottom walkway is very cool. Sorry you're getting some wet weather, but it's supposed to rain here for the next day or two as well, so you could either get wet here waiting for the bus, or you can watch the rain from the lounge with a colorful drink in your hand. Hard choice. ;-)

P.S. I have the makings here for those red and blue drinks. We'll have to get Rachel to show us the secret recipe.

    Love you,
    Mom
