My First Traditional English Breakfast
Our Dream Liner was a beautiful plane and props to Kerry for booking us in Premium seats (a.k.a. the seats that board early and come with champagne for sipping while the rest of the people board the plane... I think they have more leg-room too but I am short so it is wasted on me.) We made great time and landed much earlier than expect, which worked out great because the queue at customs gobbled up for the surplus time and we were right on schedule when we finished.
[Side Note: Our customs agent had a "deceivably friendly" face." He looked like Steve Douglas' fourth son Ernie (60's TV show "My Three Sons" ) but was in reality likely a robot or part of the Borg and there was no "Welcome to England" to be had from him.] ;)

Once we got through customs we picked up our suitcases, located our driver, and headed for our hotel. We had a lively "like-minded" conversation about politics on the way. [Second Side Note: London traffic is a lot like New York traffic only slower and backwards... it is like a chaotic mass of merging and weaving vehicles that seem to treat the lines on the road like suggestions instead of lanes].
Once we arrived at the hotel we checked our bags into storage, since our check-in time was 2 pm and it was only 9 am, and decided to take advantage of the hotel restaurant and its buffet. We had had a nice lite breakfast on the plane at 5 AM so really we were just looking for caffeine and chairs that weren't in the crowded lobby. Plus in good conscience we couldn't take up a table to just have tea (that is my story and I am sticking to it... it wasn't the buttery croissants).
We opted for the buffet and I had my very first Traditional English Breakfast which evidently always includes "pork and beans" and sauteed mushrooms... weird but yummy.
Once done we had a blessedly short wait in the lobby (dealing with other people's children screaming, running around the lobby, and jumping on the furnature while their horrible parents did nothing) before the lovely hotel staff took pity on us and checked us in 3 hours early. After a 5 hour nap we were feeling human again and were off to explore the area around the hotel.
Tomorrow will be the full on tourist mode... today is easy and relaxed.
